| Athletic Facility Fitness Center and Greer Store Project |
| Deerfield's Fitness and Training facilities will be vastly expanded and improved. An upper-level
cardio area with treadmills, bikes and ergo machines will overlook the state-of-the art lower-level weight-training
area, with separate pin-loaded machines and free weight training spaces. In addition, a multi-lane sprint track
will run the length of the room. The training area will be doubled to meet Deerfield's expanding needs.
In addition, this project will include the creation of a much-needed 'student center' type of space on campus by
doubling the size of the Greer Store to create space to accommodate gatherings of 200 to 300. The space will
incorporate comfortable and intimate seating groupings as well as tables and counter space. The space will be
open for students to drop-in and get together during the hours that the Athletic Facility is open, even when
the kitchen is closed. A small focal area with lighting and sound will encourage alternative performance and
dance space. A separate meeting room capable of seating up to 50 will be incorporated, creating a space for
meeting prospective families, showing team films or for other small gatherings or classes. The room will have
the latest in technology and multi-media capability.
To help envision the new fitness center and Greer Store facilities, we've created an animated walk-through of the
completed project. Walk through the
project here. We've also created a photogallery including images of the floor plans here.

| Main School Building Renovations |
| Classrooms on the 2nd floor will be renovated and upgraded to provide improved technology and multi-media
capabilities. Improved accessibility to the building will be created with the addition of a new formal entrance
on the west-side of the building, complete with beautiful terracing and landscaping. In addition, accessibility
to the Caswell library will be enhanced with the addition of an interior lift. The entire building will benefit
from additional safety features and energy-efficient improvements in keeping with the goal of the 'Greening of
Deerfield'. |
| Arms Building Renovations |
| A donation by Jennie Maria Arms Sheldon (1852-1938) Deerfield trustee and natural scientist, in
memory of her father, allowed the construction of the George Albert Arms Science Building. The building, designed
by renowned architect and painter Charles Adams Platt was opened in 1933. Upon completion of the Helen Childs
Boyden Science Center in 1975, the Arms Building became classroom space for the humanities. The classrooms and
department offices in the building will undergo renovation including improved technology and multi-media capabilities.
Accessibility to the 1st floor will be added to the west side of the building. As with the Kendall Classroom Building
and Main School Building, the Arms Building will benefit from additional safety and energy-efficient improvements. |
| Kendall Classroom Building Renovations |
| The Kendall Classroom Building, a gift of Henry P. Kendall, trustee from 1956 to 1959, was opened in
the fall of 1960. The classrooms in the building will be renovated and upgraded to provide improved technology and
multi-media capabilities. Improved accessibility will be created with the addition of a new elevator at the west
entrance that will reach all 3 floors of the building. The small auditorium will be upgraded with improved technology
and multi-media capabilities as well as accessibility. The entire building will benefit from additional safety and
energy-efficient improvements, as well. |
| Track and Turf Field Project |
| A new track and two all-weather playing fields replace the existing track and fields on the
northwest corner of campus. The field inside of the track is for field hockey while lacrosse will be played
on the new field to the north of the track. |
